Hamilton Wants to 'Galvanise Troops' in Ferrari F1 Title Charge

Lewis Hamilton believes the time is right for Ferrari to end its long wait for a Formula 1 world championship, and he is ready to lead the charge. The British driver has expressed his desire to 'galvanise the troops' at the Scuderia as they look to close the gap to Mercedes in the second half of the season.

Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix, Hamilton, who now drives for Ferrari, was full of praise for the positive atmosphere within the team. He described the relationship between himself, his personal team, and the race team as the most harmonious it has been since he joined the Italian outfit at the start of last season.

“It has been a great first part of the season; it's good, but of course, it could be better,” Hamilton told media, including RacingNews365. “But I think there has been a real positive feeling; the harmony between myself and my personal team, and the racing team is better than it's ever been.”

Hamilton currently sits second in the drivers' championship, 50 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli, who succeeded him at Mercedes. In the constructors' standings, Ferrari trails Mercedes by 72 points, despite enjoying better reliability than the Brackley squad, which has been hampered by power unit issues.

“It's taken us a good year to get to know each other, and we're more aligned than ever,” Hamilton added. “There is still a huge amount of work to do, and improvements we need to make in terms of, like, galvanising the troops, who are all so passionate.”

Ferrari last claimed a constructors' title in 2008, with Kimi Raikkonen their most recent drivers' champion in 2007. Hamilton believes the team now has a strong foundation to build on for the future.

“At the factory, I've never seen a love for a team like it, and a passion for the team,” he said. “It is just about directing that and steering it in the right direction.”
