Lewis Hamilton needed just one word to silence the speculation. Asked whether Ferrari is still on the right track under Frederic Vasseur, his answer was firm: "Si" – yes. The brief reply came to Sky UK amid a paddock buzzing with rumours about the team principal's future.
The question didn't come out of nowhere. Lately, statements from Vasseur and Hamilton have often seemed misaligned. A scenario once hard to imagine, sparking doubts about unity inside the Maranello squad. Christian Horner, who previously expressed interest in the Ferrari team principal role, added fuel to the fire. But Hamilton paid no heed.
When asked if the team is still united and has good chemistry, Hamilton simply nodded and said "Si". Then, what's the key for the remaining races? "Continuare a provarci" – keep trying. Three short answers, but they speak volumes: no cracks, no drama. At least according to the seven-time champion.
The season is still long, and pressure at Ferrari never fades. Vasseur occupies the hot seat, but backing from his number one driver can be a shield. Hamilton, known for being outspoken, chose to keep it brief. It could be a strategy to calm the waters, or he genuinely believes in the team's direction.
Either way, Hamilton's statement has at least eased the tifosi's worries. They certainly hope Ferrari isn't fractured by external issues. On track, consistency and focus are key. And with Hamilton in the cockpit, the Scuderia has one of the most experienced drivers to navigate the storm.
But note: short answers don't mean empty ones. In a world full of politicians and diplomats, blunt honesty can be more touching. Hamilton isn't being diplomatic; he's simply affirming what he believes. Is it enough? Only time will tell, starting from the next race.
On the other hand, Vasseur's position remains under scrutiny. If results don't improve, pressure will mount again. But for now, he can breathe a little easier. Hamilton has spoken, and the message is clear: Ferrari is still on the right track. At least until the lights go out again.
