Lewis Hamilton has shared a heartfelt tribute to his late dog, Roscoe, on the first anniversary of the beloved bulldog's passing. The Ferrari driver took to social media to honor the memory of his constant companion, expressing both sorrow and gratitude. "It’s been one year since Roscoe’s passing," he wrote. "Being without my best friend has been hard, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish he was with me."
Roscoe, an English Bulldog who became a beloved figure in the Formula 1 paddock, died on 28 September 2025 after being placed in a coma while being treated for pneumonia. His loss was felt deeply not only by Hamilton but also by fans who adored seeing him around the teams. "I think of him and Coco every day," Hamilton continued. "As sad as I am to not have them, I’m so grateful for the time I shared with them and to have had them in my life."
For years, Roscoe was a familiar sight in the F1 paddock. In 2013, former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone granted him an official paddock pass, making him the first dog to receive such an honor. Roscoe was frequently seen in team motorhomes and across F1 media platforms, becoming a favorite among fans and paddock personnel alike. His presence often lightened the mood amid the intensity of race weekends.
Hamilton also opened up about the overwhelming support he received from fans when Roscoe passed. "It's been amazing to see the support from so many people around the world, and overwhelming just to see how much Roscoe touched people and meant to people," he said ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix last year. "The kind messages that I've received have been really uplifting, so I'm really grateful for that. Anyone out there that knows what it's like to lose a pet, you know how painful it is. I read somewhere that grief is the last act of love, and I'm definitely feeling that."
Roscoe was more than just a pet; he was part of Hamilton's journey in racing. From track to track, Roscoe often accompanied Hamilton, a loyal friend amid a hectic schedule. His passing left a void in Hamilton's heart, but the beautiful memories of him will live on. "Today, I’m looking through these photos and videos, laughing and smiling so big, remembering those moments," Hamilton said. "So many of you have been through this and reached out with love and support. It means so much to me, knowing how much Roscoe was loved. Rest in peace buddy, love you always."
Roscoe's story also highlights the human side of a seven-time world champion. Amid the pressures of F1 competition, Hamilton showed that the bond with a pet can be a source of strength and happiness. Fans continue to remember Roscoe through various posts and messages, proving that his legacy will never be forgotten.
