Hadjar Backs Tsunoda Ahead of Dutch GP Return
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Tsunoda will aim to impress in his first 2026 outing

Injured Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar has shown remarkable sportsmanship by offering his support to Yuki Tsunoda as the Japanese returns to Formula 1 at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix. Hadjar is sidelined from Zandvoort due to a wrist injury, with Liam Lawson stepping in at Red Bull.

Tsunoda, a former team-mate of Hadjar at Racing Bulls, received a surprise call-up for the race. The Japanese driver quickly took to social media to wish Hadjar a speedy recovery. "Wishing Isack Hadjar a speedy recovery!" Tsunoda wrote in a post.

Interestingly, Hadjar, who has yet to publicly address his injury, left an encouraging comment on Tsunoda's post. "Have fun, bro," the Frenchman wrote. The gesture highlights the strong bond between the two drivers despite their on-track rivalry.

For Tsunoda, this weekend marks a highly anticipated return to F1 in 2026. It also presents a significant challenge, as the Dutch GP is a sprint weekend, giving him only one free practice session before the sprint shootout to adapt to the car.

Despite the tight schedule, Tsunoda remains calm and confident. "I'm actually quite calm and looking forward to tomorrow. I can't be sad. It was a moment I was waiting for, and I was dying to have this kind of moment," he told media, including Motorsport Week.

Tsunoda also made it clear that he is not concerned about which car he drives. "I don't mind which car I'm driving. I'm already grateful enough to have a seat. Both teams are performing well, especially Racing Bulls this year," said the 26-year-old. "Racing Bulls, I've been here for long years. Soon as I wore this white jersey, I feel pretty at home."

A solid performance at Zandvoort could boost Tsunoda's chances of securing an F1 seat for 2027. With Hadjar's backing, Tsunoda is ready to make the most of this opportunity at the challenging Dutch circuit.
