Former Moto3 world champion Izan Guevara has officially secured a step up to MotoGP for 2027 after signing with the Pramac Yamaha team. The 22-year-old Spaniard has spent the last two seasons with the squad in Moto2, showing steady progress.
Guevara’s journey with Pramac began in 2025, and he quickly made an impact by winning the team’s first intermediate-class race at Valencia. That victory earned him a private MotoGP test, hinting at bigger things to come.
The 2026 season proved to be his breakout year. With one win and four podiums, he currently sits second in the Moto2 standings, convincing Pramac and Yamaha to hand him a premier-class seat. He will partner Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is already under a multi-year deal.

Guevara becomes the third rookie confirmed for the 2027 grid, joining Daniel Holgado and David Alonso. All three are expected to bring valuable Pirelli tyre knowledge from Moto2, which could prove crucial under the new technical regulations.
“This is a dream come true,” Guevara said in a press release. “Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know how difficult it is. It has taken many years of hard work and sacrifices from many people around me.”
He added, “I am calm because my focus remains on Moto2. We are fighting for the championship, and I want to finish this chapter well. Looking ahead to 2027, I am excited. MotoGP will enter a new era, and I think that creates opportunities for riders stepping up.”
Gino Borsoi, Team Director of Pramac Yamaha, welcomed the promotion: “Izan has earned this through his progress and commitment in Moto2. His promotion reflects exactly what this project was created to achieve: developing young talent within the Yamaha family. We believe the new regulations will help young riders adapt quickly.”
This move underscores Yamaha’s commitment to nurturing young talent. With solid Moto2 experience and strong team support, Guevara is ready to write a new chapter in his career.
