Dire weather predictions did not quite ring true for Friday's on-track action on the Gold Coast with only one of the three Supercars sessions affected by rain. The unexpected break in the weather offered a much-needed window for teams to gather crucial setup data without having to constantly guess wet-weather tire strategies.
The crucial qualifying session was a dry affair as Anton De Pasquale put an under-fire Team 18 on top ahead of the Shootout. His impressive lap around the demanding street circuit provided a massive morale boost for the squad as they fought to outpace their rivals in optimal grip conditions.
There was a big name and Finals contender that missed the Shootout altogether, sending shockwaves through the competitive grid and altering championship calculations. Meanwhile, a solo debutant did a solid job on the challenging Gold Coast circuit, keeping their nose clean while learning the unforgiving limits of the concrete canyons.

There was a penalty for Will Brown that added more spice to the stewards' room discussions, alongside the usual paddock chatter regarding aggressive kerb usage and ongoing calendar talks for future seasons.
Andrew van Leeuwen and Stefan Bartholomaeus unpack it all in the Friday edition of the daily podcast, breaking down every technical nuance, penalty implication, and driver reaction from the opening day of track action.
