Genesis has delivered a landmark moment in the FIA World Endurance Championship by securing the manufacturer’s first-ever pole position during an intense qualifying session for the 6 Hours of Barcelona. The breakthrough performance came courtesy of Mathys Jaubert, who mastered the Catalan circuit aboard the #17 GMR-001 machine to set a blistering benchmark lap of 1:30.166. The Frenchman's stellar effort sent waves of excitement through the paddock, signalling a fierce new competitive era in top-tier endurance racing.
Jaubert’s remarkable pace allowed him to fend off fierce competition, finishing a crucial 0.170 seconds ahead of championship leader Ryo Hirakawa, who anchored the #8 Toyota TR010 Hybrid. This stunning result instantly validates the ambitious Hypercar project and proves that the newcomer squad is fully prepared to battle established manufacturers for outright victories from the very beginning.
Genesis nearly locked out the entire front row of the grid as Mathieu Jaminet pushed hard to secure third place in the #19 sister car. This strong result was made even more impressive considering Jaminet had to overcome an earlier technical hiccup and a brief, tense stoppage during the Hyperpole shootout. Behind them, Charles Milesi placed the #35 Alpine in fourth position, closely followed by Will Stevens who rounded out the top five for Cadillac.

The rest of the top ten grid slots were hard-fought, with Robert Kubica claiming sixth for AF Corse ahead of the secondary Alpine entry. Meanwhile, Ferrari's Antonio Fuoco endured a frustrating session, restricted to eighth on the timesheets after having a crucial lap time deleted for exceeding track limits. The remaining spots in the top ten were safely locked down by Toyota's Nyck de Vries and Cadillac representative Jack Aitken.
Further down the pit lane, the qualifying session proved to be a bitter pill to swallow for Aston Martin, as neither of their Valkyrie entries managed to progress into the Hyperpole shootout. BMW and Peugeot also failed to crack the final qualifying phase. As race day approaches, all eyes will be on Genesis as they look to convert their historic qualifying pace into a milestone victory during Sunday's gruelling six-hour endurance battle.
