Franco Colapinto has issued his strongest plea yet to Formula 1 supporters amid a surging wave of toxic online abuse, warning that the aggressive behavior is ultimately harming his career prospects and future in the sport.
The Alpine driver has found himself at the center of a major controversy as a torrent of digital harassment targeted multiple figures across the 2026 grid, including his own teammate Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, and reigning world champion Lando Norris.
The severity of the situation prompted Alpine executive Flavio Briatore to threaten Argentine media outlets with a potential information blackout regarding Colapinto unless the hostile fan behavior showed immediate signs of improvement.

Taking to Instagram in his native Spanish, Colapinto addressed his supporters directly to urge an immediate halt to attacks directed at his colleagues, mechanics, engineers, and fellow competitors.
In his emotional address, he stated, "Instead of supporting me, we end up criticising people and attacking other drivers, other colleagues, my team-mates, my mechanics, my engineers – people I work with every single day. I know you think you’re defending me, but you’re actually doing the opposite. You’re not helping me or my future."
While Colapinto holds a secure contract with Alpine for the 2027 season, his long-term viability heavily hinges on results. He currently sits 12th in the championship standings with 27 points, trailing teammate Gasly who holds 41 points in 10th place.
