Jake Dennis, the first winner of the Gen3 era and its first champion, heads into the title-deciding weekend at the London ExCeL Arena as the championship leader. But here's the twist: he doesn't see himself as the favourite.
Dennis, driving for Andretti Formula E, holds a slender lead over Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein. Despite leading the standings, he maintains he still feels like the 'underdog' in this title fight.
“I kind of still feel like the underdog,” Dennis told The Race. “I feel like it's been Mitch's and Pascal's to lose, and I've just arrived at the party and am somehow still leading it.”

Mind Games and a Complex Relationship
Dennis then dropped a comment that could serve as a psychological ploy. “Honestly, if I don't win it, I would love to see Mitch win it,” he said. “I feel like that bloke has been the bridesmaid for so many years, and if there's one deserving champion out of a Gen3 era, I do feel like it's him.”
That remark will not go unnoticed by the Porsche camp and Wehrlein. The relationship between Andretti and Porsche has been strained at times, especially after the 2023 incident when Michael Andretti confronted senior Porsche management.
Ahead of their final race together, Dennis remains unfazed. “Nothing's changed really from the last race in Tokyo and we won't be accepting any new software which comes our way,” he said. “They'll be doing their race and we'll be doing our race.”
Momentum and Support
Dennis could have had a larger advantage had misfortune not struck in Tokyo last month, where a power cut and a red flag cost him 14 points. Still, he scored 37 points, his biggest double-header haul since Rome in 2023.
His teammate Felipe Drugovich could be pivotal. Dennis hopes Drugovich can provide support against the full might of Jaguar and Porsche. “Ultimately, we need both cars up there. I need Felipe by my side to help me try and win this thing,” he said.
With 59 points up for grabs in London, anything is possible. Teammate support could be the difference in the notorious chaos of the ExCeL.
