Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Flavio Briatore will step in for Steve Nielsen at the official team representatives press conference organised by the FIA during the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit.
The late change comes after Nielsen, who serves as managing director of Alpine, was reported ill and unable to attend the scheduled media session on Friday.
As Alpine’s executive adviser, Briatore will represent the Enstone-based team in the press conference scheduled for 13:30 local time, taking place between the first free practice session and sprint qualifying.
During the session, Briatore will appear alongside Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies and Audi Formula 1 project boss Jonathan Wheatley as part of the three-person panel.
Despite missing the Friday media commitments, Nielsen is expected to return to the circuit on Saturday and resume leadership of the Enstone operation during sprint activities and the main qualifying session for the Chinese Grand Prix.
Alpine opened the 2026 Formula 1 season with a points finish at the Australian Grand Prix, where Pierre Gasly secured 10th place, marking a more stable start to the campaign following the team’s difficult 2025 season.
