TO NEWS OVERVIEW
The Bahrain GP in Malaysia saw a chaotic formation lap as cars faltered amid the software glitch

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has officially concluded its comprehensive investigation into the software glitch that occurred during the formation lap. The technical malfunction, which sparked intense debate throughout the paddock, stemmed from parameters utilized by teams to reduce electrical power in wet track conditions, resulting in an unexpected and severe loss of performance for several contenders.

This complicated incident immediately triggered strong reactions from the drivers competing on track. Esteban Ocon made a sarcastic remark about a computer operating system needing a reboot, while Carlos Sainz delivered sharp criticism, stating that those associated with the new regulations should take a hard look at themselves.

Responding to the controversy ahead of the race weekend, motorsport's governing body outlined four key pillars within its findings. Based on data traced from all power unit manufacturers, it was revealed that several cars running on low engine RPM in specific sectors experienced power reductions beyond the original intent.

Addressing public criticism, the FIA emphasized that the software had indeed undergone rigorous simulation exercises and full-scale testing during practice sessions prior to deployment. Close collaboration with power unit manufacturers and the standardized electronic control unit supplier will continue to strengthen validation processes to prevent future recurrences.
