Entering a critical phase of the 2026 Formula 1 world championship, Ferrari is gearing up to introduce a substantial aerodynamic package for the SF-26 car. According to reports from Motorsport, the Italian outfit is focusing its engineering efforts on a redesigned floor, revised sidepods, and comprehensive bodywork changes to resolve recent performance deficits and boost top-end speed.
The primary objective of the new floor specification is to elevate overall downforce levels and meticulously manage airflow underneath the chassis. This crucial modification aims to widen the operating window, allowing engineers to run less extreme setups across varying track layouts. Additionally, adjustments to the sidepods and engine cover cooling openings are engineered to reduce aerodynamic drag.
The upgraded floor is expected to debut next weekend during the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas. Meanwhile, the revised sidepods and bodywork updates are slated to arrive imminently, with their first on-track appearance anticipated a week later at the Mexico City Grand Prix as the season enters its final stretch.
With only six races remaining in the campaign, the stakes are exceptionally high for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, who currently sit third and fifth respectively in the Drivers' Championship. Ferrari maintains second place in the Constructors' Standings, but the threat from behind is intensifying following a resurgence from Red Bull.
Reigning momentum from Max Verstappen, who secured victories in the last two Grands Prix, has put pressure on the Maranello squad as Red Bull sits 112 points behind in the constructors' race. These aggressive technical upgrades are designed to solidify Ferrari's position and fend off late-season challengers.
