Ferrari has pulled off a stealthy strategic move behind the scenes by signing former Mercedes simulator driver Sacha Fenestraz to bolster their simulator development program in Maranello.
The news largely flew under the radar until the driver himself opened up about the transition in a recent interview. Fenestraz joined the Prancing Horse at the start of the summer after spending three seasons fulfilling a similar developmental role at the Brackley-based squad.
The 27-year-old French-Argentine driver boasts an impressive motorsport resume, having clinched the 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup title, dominated the Japanese Formula 3 championship in 2019, and secured an impressive runner-up finish in the ultra-competitive 2022 Super Formula season prior to competing globally in Formula E.

Reflecting on his new chapter, Fenestraz expressed his delight at working for such an iconic automotive brand. He highlighted how the role mirrors his previous duties in Brackley, albeit with the added bonus of enjoying authentic Italian cuisine while perfecting virtual setups.
Crucially, as part of his long-term integration into the squad, Ferrari has officially confirmed that Fenestraz will be handed a real-world Formula 1 test. Under the Testing Previous Cars program, the simulator specialist is slated to pilot a legacy Grand Prix car on track in 2027 to bridge the gap between simulator data and physical track feedback.
