Ferrari Fails Again at Zandvoort: Strong Car, Weak Strategy and Small Errors

Zandvoort once again witnessed Ferrari's failure to fight at the front. The Maranello team arrived with high ambitions after bringing a major upgrade package for the SF26, but a weekend that was supposed to be a turning point ended with both cars in fourth and fifth place. Yet, the car's pace on track looked promising.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc did manage to secure third-row starts, but that was already a sign that things would not go smoothly. When the race began, Lando Norris immediately showed his class by leading, while the Ferrari duo got involved in an unnecessary internal battle.

Hamilton, who was impressive with the best race pace in the second half, felt let down by the team's strategy call that pitted him too late. By the time he came in, the chance to chase third place held by George Russell was gone. The situation got even more complicated when Hamilton tried to pass Leclerc mid-race but didn't get full support from the pit wall.

This failure isn't just about strategy. Once again, small details proved to be the culprit. After the race, Hamilton admitted the car was actually very competitive, but mistakes at crucial moments made everything pointless. This is a recurring pattern for Ferrari, which too often loses valuable points due to a lack of precision in execution.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the garage, McLaren continues to show incredible consistency. Andrea Stella and his team have managed to turn the car into a lethal weapon, and Norris is now just 83 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. Although the gap is still large, Norris is confident he can keep pushing.

For Ferrari, the big question is: when will they learn from the same mistakes? With the car's potential, failing to fight at the top is a luxury they cannot afford. If they don't sort things out soon, the 2026 season will once again be a story of missed opportunities.
