Heading into the Formula 1 race weekend at the Marina Bay street circuit, Ferrari carries an essential mission to maintain its positive momentum after breaking a podium drought in Sepang, Malaysia. This weekend brings a unique challenge for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc inside the SF-26 cockpit, especially with the final Sprint format of the season taking place on a tight and demanding street track.
The characteristics of the Marina Bay circuit differ vastly from Sepang. Featuring a combination of 90-degree slow corners and long straight sections, power delivery and low-speed traction exiting the turns will dictate overall performance. On paper, these traits may not entirely favor the Maranello squad, yet street circuit dynamics constantly leave room for strategic surprises and tire management resilience.
Securing a podium finish in Malaysia provided a much-needed morale boost for Fred Vasseur and the entire team crew. The result simultaneously widened the gap in the fierce battle for second place in the constructors' standings against their closest rivals, McLaren. Despite facing initial debates over tire compound choices complicated by safety car deployments, the tactical response on track successfully lifted both drivers from the back.

The Sprint format in Singapore is viewed by the team principal as a double-edged sword. On one hand, the Scuderia's usual knack for hitting the ground running with a strong baseline setup on Friday could prove advantageous. On the other hand, the limited practice time during a Sprint weekend demands absolute efficiency so the drivers can quickly build full confidence on the city asphalt.
“The final Sprint weekend of the season presents an additional challenge precisely because we are racing in Singapore, a circuit where drivers generally want to complete as many laps as possible to gain confidence,” explained Fred Vasseur. With incredibly tight gaps between teams, ensuring every session—especially the sole free practice—is maximized remains vital to put the Ferrari drivers in prime condition.
