Formula 1 development war reaches a crucial phase ahead of this weekend's United States Grand Prix as Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren headline the latest car upgrade submissions published by the FIA. The governing body's official documents ahead of Friday practice confirmed that the front-running outfits have introduced technical modifications at the Circuit of the Americas.
Ferrari has brought what is widely believed to be its final major upgrade package of the 2026 season for the SF-26 challenger. The technical revisions comprise four distinct parts, featuring a revised floor body, updated floor board, modified sidepod inlet, and an optimized diffuser. Despite the influx of new parts, Lewis Hamilton was quick to downplay the team's prospects during Thursday's FIA driver press conference.
The seven-time world champion insisted that the performance gain from the new components is minimal. "We have a very, very small upgrade this weekend. It's less than a tenth. It's like half a tenth," Hamilton stated. "So, I don't think that propels us forward enough to necessarily challenge that deficit."

However, the veteran driver remains hopeful that track specifics and rival misfortunes could open a window for success in Austin. "But maybe the track suits our car, and maybe they'll have a one-off weekend. Maybe Mercedes will have an off weekend again, and we'll be right there to take it," he explained when assessing his chances of securing a victory.
Elsewhere in the pit lane, McLaren continues its development push with new front and rear corners alongside a modified diffuser geometry on the MCL40. Red Bull has debuted a fresh front wing on the RB22 to build upon dominant back-to-back victories secured by Max Verstappen in Malaysia and Singapore, alongside a new front corner aimed at bolstering material reliability.
