Ferrari has finally broken its silence. In a virtual meeting with selected media on Tuesday morning, September 29, the Maranello-based team reaffirmed its full trust in Frederic Vasseur as Team Principal. The move was made to quell recent speculation.
The decision to speak out was not without reason. Previously, the team's form had dipped with five consecutive races without a podium. That situation sparked doubts about Vasseur's future. Furthermore, ahead of the Azerbaijan GP, Christian Horner gave an interview to The Times expressing his willingness to accept a role at Ferrari if offered.
In response, Ferrari stated: “Ferrari's position is clear and has not changed. Ferrari has made its choices. The trust in Fred Vasseur and his team has been there and continues to be there. At this moment, it is crucial that the team remains united and cohesive, focusing all energies on the work and the races ahead until the end of the season.”
Without naming names, Ferrari also addressed Horner's comments. “It is natural that many professionals aspire to be part of this wonderful team. It is also a sign of the strength of what Ferrari represents globally, and we are proud of that. We do not want to fuel speculation or hypotheses from outside, we want to focus on our work.”
With this statement, Ferrari hopes to refocus the team on the track. The season is still long, and the Scuderia aims to finish the campaign on a high note.
