The motorsport community has been plunged into mourning following a fatal accident at the fourth Rally Citta di Scandicci e Colli Fiorentini. The horrific crash brought an immediate halt to proceedings as emergency services rushed to the scene of the devastating incident on the second special stage.
Driver Bartarelli, a native of Montespertoli who resided in Pieve a Nievole, tragically lost his life when his Citroen C3 Rally2 heavily impacted a tree. According to initial reports from the ground, the top-seeded crew suffered a catastrophic collision that cut the competition short.
Meanwhile, Bartarelli’s co-driver, Massimo Bazzani, sustained injuries in the crash. Early updates indicated that Bazzani suffered several fractures from the heavy impact, though medical personnel confirmed he remained conscious throughout the harrowing ordeal.

Authorities and event organisers are continuing a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident. Widely known in rallying circles under the moniker Bartan Block, Bartarelli regarded the Scandicci event as his ultimate home rally, prompting organisers to award him the number one plate.
Representing Scuderia MotorZone, Bartarelli had recently transitioned back to top-tier Rally2 machinery alongside Bazzani after campaigning a Renault Clio Rally3. Their scheduled autumn campaign included appearances at Ronde Halloween, the Scandicci rally, and the upcoming Rally della Fettunta.
