Fabio Quartararo admitted he is struggling to understand the inconsistent behaviour of his motorcycle after a disappointing Sprint Race at the 2026 Czech MotoGP in Brno. The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team rider described the feeling from the Yamaha as constantly changing throughout the weekend.

Quartararo began the Brno event on a positive note by finishing second in FP1. However, his pace dropped significantly during Friday Practice and continued into qualifying, where he managed only 15th place on the starting grid.

The difficulties worsened in Saturday’s Sprint Race. Quartararo crossed the finish line in 13th position out of 15 classified riders, finishing around 15 seconds behind the race winner. He only finished ahead of fellow Yamaha riders Jack Miller and Alex Rins.

"It's frustrating because this morning was not super-good, but it was not as bad as this afternoon. The feeling of my bike is changing every time, whether it's Sprint or race conditions. On the first lap I'm completely lost and I have no idea why," Quartararo explained after the Sprint.

The French rider revealed that his lack of pace in the opening laps allowed fellow Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlioglu to pull away. Quartararo also pointed to excessive rear tyre overheating after choosing the soft rear compound, which further limited his performance in the closing stages of the race.

"We use the rear tyre a lot to make the bike turn and by the end my rear tyre was completely cooked. It's super strange because I don't understand why I'm so slow in the races. It's frustrating," he added.

Quartararo stressed that the issue is not unique to Yamaha's current V4 project. According to the former world champion, similar problems appeared last season whenever track grip levels dropped. With Sunday's Grand Prix still to come, Yamaha faces an important task to identify the cause of the inconsistent performance that continues to hinder Quartararo's progress at Brno.
