Max Verstappen reaffirmed his dominance at the Marina Bay street circuit by securing pole position for the 2026 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing star put in a masterclass performance to outpace his rivals during a dramatic and incident-filled qualifying session.
The opening Q1 segment immediately brought high drama when Isack Hadjar suffered a technical failure that left his car stranded on the track. The young Frenchman radioed his team to report the issue before managing to restart and limp back to the pits without setting a competitive lap time. "The engine is off," he reported as the car ground to a halt. Recurring gear issues ultimately kept him sidelined for the rest of the session alongside several other early exits.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton showed remarkable pace early in the sessions, topping both Q1 and Q2 in his Ferrari. However, Verstappen's ultimate pace in the pole-decoting Q3 shootout proved too strong to overcome. The Dutchman maximized his car's potential through the tight and twisty Marina Bay layout to snatch a crucial starting spot at the front of the grid.

On the other hand, the Mercedes squad struggled to find a competitive rhythm throughout the evening. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli and his teammate found themselves muffled in the midfield pack, far from the front-running pace expected from the Silver Arrows.

With Verstappen starting from the front on Sunday, the race promises an intense tactical battle under the lights. Read our in-depth analysis and catch all the latest updates right here on Sportrik.
