Jaxon Evans finally tasted a Supercars podium after enduring two tough full-time seasons. The New Zealand driver admitted that the moment at the AirTouch 500 marked a turning point in his confidence. "I'm really happy," he said. "This year I took a step back in terms of planning my season, and now I'm enjoying the balance between GT and Supercars."

Evans previously raced for Brad Jones Racing for two full seasons, finishing 23rd in the championship both years. His contract was not renewed as the team transformed into Objective Racing for 2026. "When you're not seeing results in a very competitive field, it becomes quite frustrating," he recalled.

However, behind the wheel of the #2 Toyota Supra alongside Dale Wood, Evans delivered an impressive performance. In the wet early stints, he was trusted to stay out while other main drivers pitted. "I thought to myself, 'I'm a bit nervous. I don't really know if I'm up for this'," Evans admitted. "But it relayed back to me that they've got full confidence in the garage that I could do the job."

The strategic call paid off. Evans was able to mix it with the main drivers and helped the team avoid a dreaded double-stack. "I'm super proud of him," Wood said. "He did the job."

This podium also proves that a driver dropped from a full-time Supercars seat can find redemption through a co-driver role in endurance races. Evans himself is not making any big statements about returning to a full-time seat. "At the moment, I'm really happy," he stressed. "If something comes in the following months, I'd consider it. But for now, I'm focusing on this team."

With this result, Evans is growing in confidence for the rest of the season, including prestigious endurance races like the Bathurst 1000. His collaboration with Rich Harris and Dale Wood provides a strong foundation for consistent on-track performance.
