Estoril 2026 WorldSBK Schedule: Bulega's First Crown Appearance

The World Superbike Championship returns to Portuguese soil this weekend for the penultimate round of the season, hosted at the iconic Estoril circuit. This upcoming racing weekend carries a special significance as Nicolo Bulega takes to the track for the very first time bearing the official status of the 2026 World Champion. The standout rider secured his coveted title during the previous round held at Cremona, marking his final two appearances in the production-based series before making a high-profile switch to MotoGP in 2027.

The atmosphere within the factory squad from Borgo Panigale is riding high, especially after the team officially confirmed the rider who will inherit the coveted machine for next season in a direct arrangement with the VR46 stable. The #11 saddle will be occupied by Franco Morbidelli, creating a fascinating rider shuffle that has already set the international paddock abuzz with anticipation for the technical and competitive dynamics of the upcoming championship campaigns.

While the championship battles at the top have effectively been settled—with Ducati having already clinched the Manufacturers' World Championship alongside the Independent Teams Trophy won by Barni Spark Racing—curiosity remains high over whether any rival can finally shatter the fierce domination of the red camp. To date, aside from the newly crowned champion and Iker Lecuona, no other competitor has managed to stand on the top step of the podium throughout the entirety of the current racing season.
