Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that he tried to persuade Christian Horner to join Ferrari following his departure from Red Bull.
Horner left the Milton Keynes-based team last summer after serving as team principal for 20 years. Having completed his gardening leave, the Briton is now free to return to Formula 1 in any available role.
However, Ecclestone believes Horner faces enormous pressure regardless of where he continues his career, as expectations remain high following his successful spell at Red Bull.

"Christian's in a difficult position anyway. Wherever he goes, if he doesn't succeed, people will say he was only successful at Red Bull because of the big budgets. So it's difficult for him," Ecclestone said.
Since leaving Red Bull, Horner has been linked with several projects, including Ferrari and Aston Martin. More recently, reports have suggested he could become involved with Alpine through an investor group seeking to acquire Otro Capital's stake in the team.
Ecclestone admitted Ferrari was the destination he most wanted to see Horner choose. "I speak to him quite a bit. Early on, I was trying to convince him to try and be at Ferrari," Ecclestone revealed. Asked where Horner will eventually end up, he replied: "No idea."
