MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Ducati Lenovo Team has entered the 2026 MotoGP season amid a difficult run of form, extending a decline that began at the end of the 2025 campaign.

Heading into the latest round, the factory Ducati squad was on an eight-race streak without a win or podium dating back to the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix. That weekend represented a peak performance, with Marc Marquez securing the riders’ title and Francesco Bagnaia completing a pole-Sprint-grand prix sweep.

The downturn began immediately afterward in Indonesia, where Bagnaia crashed out, while Marquez was taken out by Marco Bezzecchi on the opening lap, suffering a broken collarbone and additional shoulder injuries. Marquez missed the final five races of the season, and Bagnaia retired from each of those grands prix, despite taking a Sprint win in Sepang amid a ride height device issue.

At the start of 2026, Marquez has claimed two Sprint victories but has also retired from two of the opening four grands prix. He was beaten directly by Fabio Di Giannantonio for third place in Brazil and lost a potential podium opportunity in Texas following a collision in the Sprint. Bagnaia, meanwhile, has lacked the pace to contend for podiums and has also recorded two retirements in Spain and Brazil.

The opening four races of the current season extend Ducati Lenovo Team’s podium drought to nine consecutive grands prix, marking its longest such streak since the period between 2012 and 2014. While still short of the 24-race run from that era, the statistic underlines both the current struggles and the scale of Ducati’s success in the intervening years.

At manufacturer level, Ducati also entered the weekend on a five-race winless run. A sixth would have marked its longest drought since 2020–2021, before the sequence was ended by Alex Marquez with Gresini Racing at Jerez—mirroring how Jack Miller halted a similar streak at the same circuit in 2021.

Looking ahead to Le Mans, Ducati Lenovo Team faces a critical phase. Bagnaia’s title prospects are under significant pressure due to a lack of race pace, while Marquez trails Bezzecchi by 44 points in the standings, placing the team at a decisive juncture in shaping its 2026 campaign trajectory.
