The brake issue that plagued Marc Marquez at the Austrian Grand Prix has been resolved, according to Ducati. The team insists the problem will not recur, though they remain tight-lipped about the technical details. This assurance comes ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi, where Marquez must perform at his best to keep his championship hopes alive.
Two weeks ago at the Red Bull Ring, Marquez could only manage a fifth-place finish after encountering a front brake problem. The Spaniard admitted he was lucky to even finish the race. As a result, he lost 12 points to championship leader Jorge Martin, who finished second in Austria. Marquez now faces an uphill battle with the points gap widening.
Davide Tardozzi, Ducati's team manager, stated that the cause has been identified and rectified. "We now know what happened, and we've fixed it so it won't happen again," he told the official MotoGP feed. "We really hope it doesn't happen again. But we're looking forward."

However, Tardozzi acknowledged that Austria was a missed opportunity. He emphasized that over 22 races, there will always be tracks that don't suit their bike. "We know in the remaining races there will be tracks that aren't favourable for our bike," he added. "But we also know Marc will attack starting from Motegi."
Motegi is crucial because Marquez needs a win to stay in the title fight. Moreover, the next race in Indonesia is expected to be challenging for Ducati. The return of Michelin's stiffer rear tyre carcass is likely to hinder their performance. Additionally, Marquez has never finished a main race at Mandalika.
Facing this situation, Tardozzi reiterated the team's target remains the same: the podium. "In Japan, we will try hard to be ahead of our opponents, but our target is like every race - to be on the podium," he said. "In Indonesia, we will try our best. We know someone else will be faster, but we know Marc sometimes does something exciting."
With pressure mounting, Marquez must bounce back. The Austrian failure cannot be repeated if he wants to challenge Martin and others for the title. Ducati hopes the brake fix marks a turning point. Now, all eyes are on Motegi, where Marquez must prove he can still contend at the front.
