Doriane Pin has officially joined Formula E outfit Citroën as a development driver for its upcoming Gen4 project. The move marks the French driver’s first direct involvement in Formula E and further expands her growing role across multiple international motorsport categories.

The 22-year-old is already known as a development driver within Mercedes Formula 1 operations and recently drove an F1 car for the first time at Silverstone. In addition, Pin also works as a development driver for Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship programme.

Pin’s arrival at Citroën forms part of the manufacturer’s preparation for Formula E’s next-generation Gen4 era. She is scheduled to test the new Gen4 car on several occasions later this year as the team continues developing the package ahead of Formula E’s future technical regulations.

“I’m really looking forward to this new role and joining this project. Formula E is a rapidly growing championship and it’s exciting both to watch and to drive,” Pin said.

Pin explained that she has already started working on Citroën’s Gen4 simulator programme to better understand the systems and driving approach required for Formula E machinery, which differs significantly from other racing categories she has previously experienced.

As a French driver, Pin also admitted there is special meaning in joining Citroën because of the manufacturer’s long-standing motorsport heritage. Citroën remains one of France’s most recognised automotive brands with major success in rallying and multiple international racing programmes.

Pin’s addition also further increases the number of female drivers currently involved in Formula E development and simulator roles. Other names linked to similar programmes include Nerea Martí, Abbi Pulling, Bianca Bustamante, and Sophia Flörsch.

High expectations continue to surround Pin following her F1 Academy title victory last season. Her technical feedback and performance during Gen4 testing are expected to attract close attention as Formula E enters a far more advanced technological development phase compared to previous generations.

Citroën team principal Cyril Blais described Pin as one of the most promising young talents in modern motorsport. According to Blais, her technical understanding and ability to translate feedback into performance improvements will become highly valuable during the limited Gen4 development process.
