The 2026 Donegal International Rally in Ireland was abandoned following a tragic spectator accident that claimed the life of a young fan on Saturday.
Motorsport Ireland and Donegal Motor Club confirmed with deep sadness that a young male spectator died after an incident during Stage 12 of the rally.
As a mark of respect to the victim and his family, organizers cancelled all remaining stages of the event. The rally had originally been scheduled to conclude on Sunday.

Ireland's governing body for motorsport has launched a full investigation alongside An Garda Siochana to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
According to initial reports, one of the competing cars ran close to the edge of the road on the Gartan stage before colliding with several spectators.
Three people were injured and transported to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, a teenage boy later succumbed to his injuries.
The two other injured spectators remain in hospital. Current reports indicate that both are in stable condition and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
In an official statement, Motorsport Ireland and Donegal Motor Club expressed their deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and requested that their privacy be respected during this difficult period.
The tragedy serves as a reminder of the inherent risks associated with rallying and the importance of spectator safety. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough review of the incident before the findings of the investigation are released.
