Di Giannantonio: 'We Have Never Hidden That We Are Giving Our Maximum to Try to Win the Championship'

Fabio Di Giannantonio admits he needed the summer break to recover from various injuries sustained during the first half of the 2026 season. The Ducati rider arrived at the summer break physically drained after a series of crashes, including an incident at Sachsenring that required stitches on his elbow.

The Italian rider says he is now back to peak physical condition and ready for the second half of the season. “I needed this break, especially to recover from all the small injuries this year, because I have had many crashes and each one left me with some ailment. But now I am fine. I have trained hard at home, and I feel I am back to my best level of fitness, like at the start of the year,” he said.

Di Giannantonio also discussed his struggles at Sachsenring, where he failed to perform at his best. He believes a crash in the morning session affected his focus during the race. “I came from a nasty crash in the morning and I was in pain here and there. Honestly, I was not 100% focused. I made a small mistake in the race and ruined everything,” explained Fabio Di Giannantonio.

The rider, nicknamed Diggia, also highlighted the difficulty of overtaking at Sachsenring with current MotoGP bikes, especially due to large aerodynamic packages and high front tire temperatures. He hopes the new regulations in 2027 will improve racing. “It is clear that Sachsenring is a circuit where it is difficult to overtake, because there are only two points where it is really possible. We know that with these bikes that go so fast, with these big aerodynamic packages, you are not in the best conditions with the front tire because of the heat, and that makes everything even more difficult. In theory, all the changes coming are also made to improve this situation,” he said.

Ahead of Silverstone, Di Giannantonio targets a better result after never achieving great results there. He also identifies Aprilia as the main rival this weekend due to their tire management skills. “This is a circuit where there is a lot of tire degradation, so we have to be careful to manage it well. Aprilia is very good in this aspect, so they will be the reference this weekend. I will try to fight for the podium and the victory,” he stated.

Looking at the rest of the season, Di Giannantonio is clear that his main target is to win the title. “Neither I nor the team have ever hidden that we are giving our maximum to try to win the championship. In every race, we try to go out with the mentality of trying to win the title. Many things need to fall into place, but we are obviously trying to achieve the biggest goal,” he said. With his physical condition back to peak and high motivation, Diggia is ready to be a serious threat in the second half.
