Fabio Di Giannantonio could not hide his disappointment after the Misano MotoGP race on Sunday (13/9/2026). The Pertamina VR46 Racing Team rider finished seventh, despite the race marking his 200th grand prix. Starting from fourth, hopes for a strong result faded after he encountered a brake issue that hampered his performance from early on.

“For sure I'm disappointed,” said Di Giannantonio. “I think we created a good package to do a good job today, but our race got ruined quite early.”

The trouble began at the start. Although his launch was good, he had to run wide at Turn 1 to avoid Fermin Aldeguer. “I lost a little momentum, I lost places,” he explained. But then a more serious problem emerged: his brakes started to fail. “I got a little issue with the brakes,” he said. “It was really difficult to stop the bike, the lever started to be more far and more hard every lap. I was trying to put more close but it was coming harder and harder and harder.”

As a result, Di Giannantonio struggled to brake. “So, I was not stopping the bike at all. I was riding so bad for this, I was braking super-early and for this also I didn't make any overtakes – just a couple, because Luca Marini and Franky Morbidelli did some mistakes because if not I was not able to overtake them.”

He added, “So, it was just a race that I was cruising because I was not positive to stop the bike. I was giving my 100 per cent for sure but it was difficult to take the maximum potential. A pity because I think we could have done a bit better.”

The brake issue also caused physical difficulties for Di Giannantonio. “For sure it is a tough race,” the VR46 rider said. “On my side I am really tired because when you have this kind of issue that you are always under stress in the brakes because you don't know where you will stop, you get even more tired, you are not relaxed on the bike. So, honestly on my side I'm quite tired for this.”

With this result, Di Giannantonio failed to capitalise on his recent momentum. He must quickly put this race behind him and focus on the next round. Nevertheless, his performance at Misano showed he still has speed, but technical issues proved a major obstacle.
