Daryl De Leon set the pace during the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Free Practice session at the Brands Hatch GP circuit. The WSR driver delivered a stellar performance as he desperately needs a strong weekend to boost his Independents’ Trophy charge.
The paddock heads into the season finale with Ash Sutton already crowned as the BTCC Drivers’ Champion following a stellar charge from P12 to P1 during Race 2 at Silverstone. Meanwhile, Dexter Patterson secured the Jack Sears trophy, Tom Chilton and Sam Osborne both announced their upcoming retirements, and Ricky Collard returned to action in place of Osamu Kawashima.
Despite the overall drivers' crown being settled, a fierce battle for the Independents’ titles remains wide open. Mikey Doble holds a strong 25-point advantage on the drivers' side, with Gordon Shedden, Charles Rainford, and De Leon closely chasing.

In the teams' standings, Doble’s LKQ Power Maxed outfit sits comfortably with a 33-point advantage. However, Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport and WSR are refusing to give up the chase as the weekend unfolds at Brands Hatch.
This opening practice session serves as a crucial benchmark for all contenders looking to extract maximum performance from their machines around the challenging Brands Hatch layout. Fans are set for an unforgettable conclusion to the racing calendar.
