Danilo Petrucci faces a crucial crossroads in his racing career after it was confirmed earlier in the year that South African rider Brad Binder will take over his seat in the factory BMW WorldSBK squad. This impending departure has forced the Italian veteran to weigh several potential pathways for his future, ranging from a return to American racing series to a high-profile switch back to a Ducati machine in the world championship paddock.
Discussions regarding the split began publicly in September, with both Petrucci and BMW acknowledging that future collaborations outside the primary world championship—specifically in the United States—remain a viable possibility. As part of this exploratory phase, Petrucci traveled to Texas in mid-September to spend several days with the OrangeCat team, completing roughly 30 laps on a stock version of the M1000RR during a dedicated track day.

Petrucci is no stranger to the American racing scene. Following the conclusion of his full-time MotoGP career at the end of 2021, he embarked on an adventure at the Dakar Rally with KTM—winning a stage in the process—before contesting the 2022 MotoAmerica championship aboard a factory-supported Ducati, where he secured five race victories and finished runner-up behind Jake Gagne.

However, a fresh opportunity has recently emerged within the WorldSBK paddock as privateer squad Go Eleven plans to expand into a two-rider operation. Having already retained Lorenzo Baldassarri, the team is currently weighing their second seat between Petrucci and Italian champion Alessandro Delbianco, leaving the veteran waiting on final structural developments and sponsor confirmations.
Should neither racing opportunity materialize, the 35-year-old insists he is entirely at peace with stepping away from professional competition. Juggling the management of three restaurants alongside personal ambitions to obtain pilot and boat licenses, Petrucci emphasized that he is content with whatever direction his future may ultimately take.
