Dani Holgado has issued a formal apology after triggering a massive, race-stopping crash involving his teammate David Alonso at the start of the Moto2 Grand Prix at Mandalika. The terrifying incident immediately brought out the red flags as marshals rushed to clear the track after the Turn 1 melee.
The chaos unfolded when Dani Holgado clipped the rear of David Alonso's machine during a heavily congested opening sequence. The resulting impact launched the Colombian rider spectacularly into the air in a violent highside, while Joe Roberts and Collin Veijer were also caught up in the immediate aftermath.
Speaking candidly after the dramatic race resumption, Dani Holgado shouldered the blame entirely without making any excuses for the opening lap collision. I’d like to apologise for what happened, both to my team-mate David Alonso and to the team, and I take full responsibility for my mistake, stated Dani Holgado.

Medical crews immediately intervened following the red flag period to assess the fallen riders. David Alonso was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion, though he fortunately avoided any further severe injuries from the high-speed impact.
While Joe Roberts was forced to sit out the restart due to technical gremlins, Dani Holgado managed to rejoin the grid and salvage an impressive third-place finish behind Izan Guevara and Manuel Gonzalez despite dealing with a sore hand and shifting issues.
