Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall'Igna recently celebrated a monumental milestone by securing his 100th MotoGP victory. This fantastic record was sealed after Marc Marquez delivered a stellar performance in Sunday's race at the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi, showcasing the Borgo Panigale manufacturer's absolute dominance in the modern era.

Behind the grand celebration of a century of victories, Dall'Igna looked back at the difficult times when he first joined the Italian manufacturer from Aprilia at the end of 2013. The radical changes he implemented immediately paid off by bringing the struggling Desmosedici back onto the podium during the 2014 racing season.

The GP15 was then born as the first machine developed entirely under Dall'Igna's technical leadership. Although the bike never actually tasted the top step of the podium, the GP15 successfully secured five runner-up finishes out of a total of nine podium appearances delivered by Andrea Dovizioso, Andrea Iannone, and Danilo Petrucci throughout the 2015 season.

"Honestly, the 2015 machine was the most important, because with that machine we made a real step," Dall'Igna said after reaching the century milestone of wins at Motegi. "And it was not easy, there was a lot of pressure at that time. So I think that that bike, that machine, stays in my heart more than all the others. Even if the first rider's championship is of course another important bike for me."

That long journey continued when Iannone delivered the first victory of the Dall'Igna era in 2016. However, it took until 2022 for Pecco Bagnaia to be crowned as Ducati's first riders' world champion since the Casey Stoner era, initiating an unbroken streak of world titles for the manufacturer ever since.

Now, Ducati is locked in a fierce battle with Aprilia in the hunt for the final 1000cc Michelin era world title, with Marquez sitting just two points behind Jorge Martin heading into the next round at Mandalika. As reported by Crash.net, Dall'Igna heaped high praise on the Spanish rider for his brilliant performance in Japan.
