MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Christian Horner was spotted in the paddock during the 2026 Spanish MotoGP at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, drawing attention as he continues to remain without a formal role in motorsport.
The former Red Bull Racing team principal has been out of a position since his departure in mid-2025. Since then, Horner has been linked to a potential return to Formula 1, including involvement in an investment group targeting Alpine F1 Team, although no agreement has been finalised.
His presence at Jerez gained further significance when broadcast cameras captured him inside the garage of Honda HRC, engaged in a detailed conversation with HRC president Koji Watanabe.
The interaction is notable given Horner’s established working relationship with Watanabe during Honda’s tenure as Red Bull’s power unit supplier in Formula 1. That partnership delivered multiple world championships alongside Max Verstappen, reinforcing strong professional ties between the two figures.
While there is no official indication of Horner pursuing a role in MotoGP, his visit aligns with a broader trend of increased interest from Formula 1 figures in the premier class of motorcycle racing. This shift has been driven in part by Liberty Media, whose involvement in MotoGP has created new commercial and strategic opportunities.
Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has already made a move into MotoGP, leading a consortium that acquired Tech3 KTM, where he now serves as CEO.
This growing crossover highlights MotoGP’s increasing appeal as an investment platform within the global motorsport landscape, particularly as its commercial structure becomes more aligned with Formula 1.
At this stage, Horner’s next move remains unclear. However, his presence at Jerez adds further intrigue regarding his future, whether it lies in a return to Formula 1 or a potential new chapter within MotoGP.
