The 2026 Formula 1 season delivered a historic moment when Max Verstappen successfully secured the very first victory for the Red Bull-Ford partnership in Malaysia. This brilliant result extended the Dutch driver's incredible win tally to 72. Beyond the on-track triumph, this milestone marks a massive moment for the team's power unit collaboration with the iconic American brand, prompting an emotional reaction from the team principal.
Christian Horner, the man who originally set this ambitious chapter in motion, took to his social media to share a breathtaking image of a bare Red Bull Ford Powertrains engine sitting on a dyno rig, highlighting the gleaming cylinder heads and red anodised intake covers that symbolize years of relentless engineering work.
"From a hole in the ground to race winner in five years. Huge congratulations to Red Bull Ford Powertrains, Max and the whole team. An incredible achievement!" Horner wrote, celebrating the rapid development of their in-house power unit facility in Milton Keynes.

According to Motorsport.com, Red Bull Powertrains was initially founded back in 2021 after Honda announced its departure from the sport. Left with limited choices, Horner boldly decided to build a state-of-the-art engine manufacturing base from scratch rather than relying on rival manufacturers. Fast forward to the current regulations, and the partnership with Ford has already borne fruit with a stunning victory.
For Ford, this breakthrough ends a long 23-year wait for a Grand Prix victory since their last triumph in 2003. Former driver turned pundit Martin Brundle also expressed deep admiration for the outfit's engineering masterclass, praising the sheer capability of both the power unit and chassis produced entirely out of Milton Keynes.
