At the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix, it looked like all hope was lost for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc and his teammate began the race on slick tyres and plummeted down the order. Both drivers found themselves outside of the points and grappling with the wrong rubber while intermediate runners broke away at the front of the field.

Charles Leclerc made an early strategic call at the end of Lap 3 to enter the pits and switch to intermediate tyres, a decision that initially dropped him to the very back of the field. However, the Monegasque driver found a lifeline when the Safety Car neutralised the race on Lap 6, allowing him to catch up to the other intermediate runners and rebuild his race.

From that moment on, Charles Leclerc executed a flawless recovery drive through the field until the chequered flag, ultimately claiming fourth place behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton who finished third. Speaking to Crash.net, the Ferrari charger admitted that the Grand Prix proved to be an exceptionally sweat-inducing encounter.

"We were where we kind of would have hoped to finish," Charles Leclerc explained after the race. "Kimi and Max Verstappen were just too strong for us today. And we were right after, and we finished P3, P4, but a bit of a strange race. I think everything that could have gone wrong at the first part of the race went wrong, and everything that could have gone right in the second part of the race went right."

Addressing questions regarding whether Ferrari should have executed a split strategy given the tricky weather conditions, Charles Leclerc stood firm in defending the team's unified approach, pointing out the inherent statistical flaws of splitting strategies when variables are unpredictable.

"I was aligned with the team. I think it was a close call, as it always is in these conditions," he added, while acknowledging that Red Bull remains the benchmark. "There's one team in particular, and that is Red Bull, that gets it right most of the time with both cars, and for that, we need to understand what they are doing better than we do."
