Charles Leclerc had to settle for second place at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2026 after revealing a crucial mistake that cost him a potential race victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The Ferrari squad showcased incredible pace throughout the entire weekend, securing prime positions on the front rows during qualifying alongside teammate Lewis Hamilton who started right behind in third.
Leclerc's best opportunity to seize the lead arrived at the very start of the grand prix alongside the polesitter. However, the tight layout of the street circuit provided minimal space for a successful maneuver, with the Monegasque driver losing vital braking reference points on the left side of the track.

Another turning point occurred during the opening laps when the race leader suffered deployment issues. Leclerc admitted he misjudged the situation, holding back his battery deployment because he initially thought the power glitch was a temporary occurrence.
Despite showing blistering pace at various stages of the race, catching the leaders proved impossible. Both front-runners opted for Soft tires at the start, a choice Leclerc defended as superior compared to the degrading Medium compound.
