Casey Stoner has made it clear that he will fight to get Phillip Island back on the MotoGP calendar after expressing deep disappointment over the Australian Grand Prix's controversial switch to Adelaide.
The two-time world champion, who dominated his home race with six consecutive victories from 2007 to 2012, shared his thoughts in a YouTube interview with fellow former Australian rider Chris Vermeulen. Casey Stoner emphasized that Phillip Island offers an unmatched holistic experience that goes far beyond the on-track racing action.
"Everybody goes down to Phillip Island for the weekend. It's not just the racing itself. It's an experience," Casey Stoner told Chris Vermeulen. He praised the breathtaking coastal views overlooking the ocean, calling the venue a phenomenal part of the world that leaves visitors completely mind-blown.

Stoner also highlighted the immense dedication of local fans who endure grueling 20-plus-hour road trips from regions like Queensland just to witness the spectacle at what he considers the world's greatest motorcycle track. Given this level of passion, removing such a historic venue from the MotoGP schedule came as a massive shock.
"Disappointment, massively. I honestly never thought that Phillip Island would be taken off the calendar," Casey Stoner stated. While acknowledging that the circuit requires some facility updates such as pit lane revamps, he strongly disagrees with replacing a true motorcycle sanctuary with a street circuit.
Furthermore, Casey Stoner raised serious safety concerns regarding the Adelaide parklands circuit. Unlike car racers protected by cockpits, motorcycle riders face extreme dangers in street circuits if mechanical failures, oil spills, or crashes occur without adequate run-off areas to slow them down safely.
