Cadillac Appoints Budkowski as New F1 Team Boss

Marcin Budkowski has been named the new team principal of Cadillac Formula 1, replacing Graeme Lowdon after just a few months in the role. The move marks a significant shake-up for the debutant squad currently struggling at the bottom of the standings.

Budkowski, who previously served as executive director at Alpine, brings a wealth of experience spanning 25 years in motorsport. He began his career as an aerodynamicist at Prost, Ferrari, and McLaren, before leading the FIA's technical department and joining the Renault squad.

"Cadillac Formula 1 Team has an extraordinary foundation and ambition," Budkowski said in an official statement. "This is a phase of huge opportunity. My focus will be on aligning our people, tools, and information flow so the right decisions are made quickly, and the car's performance improves every time we go racing."

Budkowski's primary mission is to improve the team's fortunes, as they currently sit last in the constructors' championship, still awaiting their first points. The team is also building new infrastructure in Indiana, USA.

CEO Dan Towriss welcomed the appointment, saying, "Marcin brings exceptional F1 experience, technical expertise, and strategic leadership that will strengthen our organization." Towriss also thanked Lowdon for his contributions in building the team from the ground up.

Lowdon was appointed in December 2024 and played a key role in preparing the team for its debut. However, underwhelming results in the first half of the season led management to make a change.

Budkowski will make his debut at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort next weekend. His first task will be to boost team morale and find performance gains within the constraints of car development.
