The BTCC heads to Knockhill for rounds 16, 17, and 18 this weekend, with two names dominating the headlines: Ricky Collard extends his stay with Team VERTU, and Nick Halstead comes out of retirement.
Collard's decision comes after he had seemingly said goodbye to the series post-Thruxton. However, his strong performances this season changed everything. "It's no secret that when the opportunity came along to join Team VERTU on the eve of the season launch, we didn't have the budget for the full campaign and could only commit to the first five events," Collard said. "The success we've enjoyed so far made me more determined than ever to extend my time with the team, and I'm delighted to confirm that I'm going to be in the seat for the next three meetings."
This extension keeps Collard in the car until Osamu Kawashima takes over for the final two rounds at Silverstone and Brands Hatch. It's a strategic move that provides stability for the team and gives Collard a chance to continue proving himself at the sharp end of the grid.

Meanwhile, Power Maxed Racing has confirmed Nick Halstead's return from retirement, marking the team's first four-car entry. "Expanding to four cars is a significant step for Power Maxed Racing and reflects the continued progress the team has made in recent seasons," said team boss Adam Weaver. Halstead added, "I'm really pleased to be returning to Power Maxed Racing and being back on the BTCC grid. It's great to be back with a team I know well, and I'm looking forward to getting started again and seeing what we can achieve together."
Halstead isn't the only new addition; Ryan Bensley and Scotland's Lewis Gilbert joined the fold at Thruxton for Speedworks Corolla and WSR respectively. Gilbert is excited about racing at home for the second time in his BTCC career, sharing the track with regulars like Aiden Moffat, Dexter Patterson, and Gordon Shedden, who will all relish the support of the home crowd.
With a mix of experience and fresh faces, Knockhill promises an exciting weekend. The championship battle is heating up, and every point counts. Will Collard capitalize on his momentum? Or will Halstead steal the show with his comeback? We'll find out soon enough.
