Will Brown admitted to mixed emotions after Triple Eight announced a major reshuffle within the team. Andrew Edwards, his race engineer, will be promoted to head of performance, while David Cauchi returns as Brown's engineer from The Bend 500 onward.

The decision stems from an internal restructuring triggered by Jeromy Moore's departure to General Motors for its Cadillac Hypercar program. Pete Ringwood was elevated to technical director, opening the door for Edwards to take on the new role.

Brown, who just secured pole position for Sunday's feature race at the Ipswich Super440, described the moment as a sad day. "It's a sad day that Andrew is actually stepping up in our team," he said on the official Supercars broadcast. "We've wanted to put depth in our team since JJ [left and] Pete Ringwood stepped up and we didn't fill that position. The only way we could do that was by me losing Andrew because he's that top-notch of an engineer that we wanted to put him there."

Brown emphasized that Edwards is the best engineer in the pit lane, and although they will part ways for the rest of the season, he is proud to end their collaboration on a high note. "Unfortunately, for now, for the rest of this year, it's going to be my last weekend with Andrew. To go out with a bang, he's been amazing, backed me the whole way," Brown added.

The decision was not taken unilaterally. Brown revealed he was involved in the selection process, specifically requesting an engineer he already knew. "I didn't want to get someone who I hadn't worked with or didn't know, so I said I'd allow Andrew to step up if I got a good engineer," Brown explained. His choice fell on David Cauchi, who returns to Triple Eight after a successful stint with Grove Racing, including a Bathurst 1000 win.

With the new lineup, Brown will start Sunday's feature race at Ipswich from pole position, joined by teammate Broc Feeney on the front row. This marks a new chapter for Triple Eight as they aim to maintain their dominance in Supercars.

The change also serves as a test for Brown to adapt to a new engineer amid a tight championship battle. However, with full team support and confidence in Cauchi, Brown remains optimistic for the rest of the season. "It's going to be a cool rest of the year, but pretty sad for me to have the last one with Andrew. We're going to be going hard," Brown concluded.
