Ahead of the prestigious endurance showdown at Mount Panorama, Broc Feeney officially unveiled a striking visual tribute on Thursday. The 23-year-old driver is gearing up for a demanding campaign alongside his newly appointed co-driver Nick Percat. Percat joined the squad for the current season to take over the seat previously occupied by touring car legend Jamie Whincup, who stepped away from co-driving duties to concentrate fully on his management responsibilities as Triple Eight Managing Director.

The inspiration behind this special livery stems from a deeply emotional milestone two decades ago, when Whincup secured his maiden Bathurst victory back in 2006. On that occasion, he triumphed as the understudy to racing icon Craig Lowndes during an exceptionally poignant event held in the wake of Peter Brock's tragic passing. Acknowledging the approaching 20-year anniversary, Feeney felt compelled to bring back a piece of that history to honor the foundations laid by his predecessor.

Speaking directly to Whincup in a social media video feature, Feeney explained the sentiment driving the special retro look. Marking the very first year that Whincup would not be sharing the cockpit alongside him, the youngster wanted to express his gratitude by reviving a livery from two decades prior. The meticulous recreation proudly showcases the classic blue, red, and yellow design scheme, complete with nostalgic photographic tributes to the historic 2006 podium celebration.

Whincup openly welcomed the revival of his iconic color palette, expressing his amusement and appreciation in true paddock fashion. The lighthearted exchange underscored the strong mutual respect shared between the generations within the organization, proving that past glories continue to serve as a powerful source of inspiration for the team's ongoing title ambitions on the Mountain.

Meanwhile, Craig Lowndes is joining the nostalgic celebrations by sporting a specially commissioned helmet to mark 30 years since his very first Bathurst 1000 triumph. Racing as a wildcard for Team 18, Lowndes has reverted to the white, red, and aqua hues from his early career. Lowndes told Speedcafe that the concept developed when planning a fresh helmet design for the endurance phase, leading the crew to recreate the visual identity of 1996.
