Tension in the Formula 1 paddock is far from over. The FIA's decision to strip Pierre Gasly of his Monaco podium has sparked fury at Alpine, especially from team principal Flavio Briatore.
Briatore has leveled serious accusations against appeal court member Filippo Marchino, claiming he deliberately favored McLaren, who alongside Red Bull had challenged the race result.
Legal Dilemma Amid Pressure
Alpine has hinted it will keep fighting to overturn the decision. But legally, their options are extremely limited since the FIA International Court of Appeal's ruling is final and binding.
The only window is a right of review if significant new evidence emerges. Briatore claims the team only learned of Marchino's alleged ties to McLaren after the hearing concluded.
Stringent Selection Process
The FIA stresses that jury composition follows a rigorous selection process. From 36 legal experts, at least eight are chosen per case, with names communicated well in advance to avoid conflicts of interest.
To annul the verdict, Alpine must present concrete evidence supporting Briatore's accusations. Without it, their efforts will be futile, and tensions between teams are set to escalate further.
