Marco Bezzecchi delivered a stunning performance at the Aragon Circuit. The Italian rider clinched pole position for the 2026 MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, snapping Ducati's four-race streak of poles at this venue. In a tense qualifying session, Bezzecchi edged out Marc Marquez after a thrilling battle that went down to the final lap.
Bezzecchi showed his pace early, breaking the Aragon lap record with a 1:45.455 in practice, immediately establishing himself as the man to beat. But Marquez had other ideas, responding with a new lap record of 1:45.136 before Bezzecchi reclaimed the top spot.
The Q2 session was intense. Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia opted for a different strategy, leaving pit lane late. Martin struggled initially but managed to end up fifth, while Bagnaia could only manage eighth. The drama peaked when Pedro Acosta crashed at Turn 8, and Marquez made a small mistake on his final flying lap—running slightly wide at one corner—which cost him the chance to snatch pole.
With this result, Aprilia returns to the top of the grid here for the first time since 2022. It's a strong statement from the Noale factory, signaling they are ready to fight at the front. Alex Marquez completed the front row in third, locking out two of the top three spots for Gresini Racing.
The second row consists of Raul Fernandez, Jorge Martin, and Pedro Acosta. Fabio Di Giannantonio, Pecco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco, Diogo Moreira, Fermin Aldeguer, and Franco Morbidelli had to settle for lower positions. Jorge Martin still leads the championship, but this result certainly piles pressure on his rivals.
