Bezzecchi: Marc Marquez Will Be in Attack Mode at Aragon

Marco Bezzecchi can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After a few extremely tough months, the Aprilia rider closed the British round at Silverstone with two third-place finishes — one in the Sprint Race and one in the main race. This result feels like an oasis in the desert he had been crossing since his victory at the Italian GP, followed by four consecutive Sunday races without points.

The burden was even heavier because his body was not in top shape. Bezzecchi underwent two operations in seven days during the summer break and arrived at Silverstone still feeling pain. Yet his determination was outstanding. “I'm happy. I'm tired, I can't do more, but it was worth it. Yesterday was emotional, today even more. I wanted it [the podium] too much, I couldn't give up,” he said with teary eyes.

This double podium is a sweet start to the second half of the season. Bezzecchi did not forget to thank everyone who supported him, including Massimo Rivola and Michele Colaninno, who regularly called him just to make him smile. “The factory did an incredible job, not only this weekend. They were fantastic,” he praised.

Despite the positive result, Bezzecchi refuses to get carried away. “It was a good weekend, but there's still a long way to go. The important thing is to approach everything with the right mindset,” he said. He admitted that the upcoming two-week break is exactly what he needs to recover physically and mentally. “If I were in a normal situation, I might want to race right away, but in my situation, I have to make the most of this pause,” he added.

His emotions overflowed after the podium. “It was hard to hold back tears. I'm not the type to show emotions, but when the adrenaline dropped, all the weight came out,” he confessed. He also acknowledged that this podium is not just a result, but a symbol of a long struggle. “I'd be lying if I said it feels like a win, but it's a good podium. This trophy will remind me of many things, good and bad,” he said.

Behind the success, he almost lost the podium to Alex Marquez. “I saved something with the tires, but I knew my physical condition would drop. And it did, when Martin and Alex passed me mid-race. Fortunately, Alex made a mistake at the first corner, giving me some breathing room,” he explained. His strategy worked as planned, though he admitted being slightly annoyed that he couldn't push harder.

Now, attention turns to Aragon, a circuit considered “Marc Marquez's territory.” Bezzecchi is fully aware of the challenge. “He is very fast there, always dominant. We know he will be in attack mode, as he says,” he said. His main goal is clear: arrive at Aragon in better physical condition. “I can't predict the future, but I will try my best,” he concluded.
