Ahead of a crucial race weekend in the MotoGP championship, Marco Bezzecchi and Raul Fernandez have firmly denied that a gathering involving all four RS-GP riders at Phillip Island was convened to discuss team orders. Speculation regarding internal factory tactics arose after their dominant performance at Mandalika failed to translate into a stretched championship lead.
The factory has publicly maintained that team instructions will only come into play once riders are mathematically out of title contention. That scenario can potentially apply to Fernandez following Sunday's race, while Bezzecchi remains in mathematical contention, sitting 46 points behind Jorge Martin with a maximum of 185 points available across the final five rounds of the season.
Debate over tactical team interventions intensified following the Indonesian Grand Prix, where the RS-GP machinery held a clear performance advantage over Ducati. However, an opening-lap tangle between Bezzecchi and Fernandez during the Sprint, compounded by tyre-pressure concerns for Martin, prevented the marque from maximizing its points haul. Although Aprilia rebounded with an historic top-four sweep in Sunday's Grand Prix, Martin crossed the line third behind Bezzecchi and runner-up Fernandez.

The outcome sparked discussions over whether Fernandez, nursing a broken finger and sitting over 100 points adrift, should have yielded second place to aid the title leader. When asked by MotoGP's Matt Birt if team orders were discussed during a pre-Phillip Island meeting with all four Aprilia riders, Bezzecchi dismissed the notion.
“No, I mean, it was just a normal meeting. We always work together with the Trackhouse team. Aprilia is always working with them, and their work has always been super important for us,” Bezzecchi explained. “So it's normal to sometimes have the possibility to make a meeting and just chat a little bit and discuss a little bit about all the situations.” Fernandez playfully added, “It was not a meeting, it was a coffee, no? Two or three coffees!”
