Bezzecchi Ban Reshuffles Czech MotoGP Starting Grid

Ai Ogura will lead the field away from pole position for the 2026 Czech MotoGP, joined on the front row by Fabio Di Giannantonio and Francesco Bagnaia following significant changes to the starting grid ahead of Sunday's race at Brno.

The biggest development came after championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was suspended from the event. The Aprilia Racing rider had originally qualified fourth but was ruled out after the sanction imposed following his post-Sprint incident with a marshal was upheld.

Bezzecchi's absence has triggered a reshuffle throughout the grid. Marc Marquez moves up to fourth position and now heads the second row alongside Diogo Moreira and Raul Fernandez. The revised grid also strengthens the opportunities available to Bezzecchi's title rivals.

One of the main beneficiaries could be Jorge Martin. After reducing the championship deficit to 15 points during the Sprint, Martin moves up one row to ninth on the grid. Although he still faces a double long-lap penalty for triggering the Balaton Park pile-up, the Spaniard remains in contention to take over the championship lead.

Further back, Toprak Razgatlioglu will start from the back of the grid after receiving a three-place penalty for riding slowly on the racing line and impeding Enea Bastianini during Qualifying 1. Because he originally qualified 21st, the sanction effectively drops him only one position.

Meanwhile, Alex Marquez has withdrawn from the event after qualifying, despite initially being set to start from 14th position. His absence, combined with Bezzecchi's suspension, further reduces the number of riders on the grid for the 21-lap Grand Prix.

With Ogura chasing a maiden MotoGP Grand Prix victory, Bagnaia aiming to build on his Sprint success, and Martin looking to capitalize on Bezzecchi's absence in the title race, the Czech MotoGP has taken on a very different complexion compared to the grid that emerged from qualifying.
