Ryan Bensley is feeling increasingly at ease with the Speedworks Corolla as his first full-time British Touring Car Championship campaign continues to unfold.
The young racer stepped into the car at Thruxton following the summer break, with Max Buxton moving back into a reserve driver role. That marked Bensley's first proper stint in the series, having previously completed a one-off weekend for Team VERTU at Snetterton in 2025.
Despite scoring points on his debut, Bensley has yet to crack the top 15 in 2026. Thruxton proved tricky as he adapted to the machinery, but his pace at Knockhill suggested more was possible than the results showed. He has been competitive in the Jack Sears Trophy, notably outperforming fellow rookie Lewis Gilbert.
Carrying that momentum, Bensley is eager to get behind the wheel at Donington Park. "I've got a couple of weekends under my belt now and I'm feeling more comfortable in the car every time I get in it," he said. "Knockhill was really encouraging from a pace point of view. The results perhaps didn't show the whole picture, but I felt like we made another good step."
With growing confidence, Bensley is targeting stronger results. "I'm understanding the Corolla better, I'm getting to know the team and how everything works over a BTCC weekend, and now I want to start turning that progress into results," he added.
His determination is clear: "I've definitely got the bit between my teeth. I'm really motivated. I can't wait to get back in the car and I'm going to Donington determined to keep moving forward."
