Beganovic Secures Back-to-Back F2 Victory in Baku

Dino Beganovic kicked off the Formula 2 Azerbaijan weekend in perfect style. The Swedish driver claimed his second consecutive Sprint Race win in Baku on Saturday, leading from lap six and never looking back.

Starting third, Beganovic immediately passed Laurens van Hoepen, who struggled off the line. Reverse-grid polesitter Nikola Tsolov held the lead into Turn 1, but drama struck on the opening lap when Rafael Camara collided with Mari Boya, bringing out the Safety Car. Boya was out, and Camara received a 10-second penalty.

After the restart, Tsolov led, but Beganovic began to pressure. On lap six, Beganovic swept past Tsolov on the pit straight to take the lead. From there, he built a comfortable gap. This victory marks his second in a row after winning at Madring, solidifying his title credentials.

Van Hoepen finished second after passing Tsolov, who suffered oversteer at Turn 16 on lap 10. Alex Dunne completed the podium in third, also passing Tsolov, who later complained of having "no rear tyres." Tsolov had to settle for fourth, with Camara recovering to fifth despite his penalty.

For Tsolov, this result extends his disappointing run after a tough weekend at Madring. He still leads the championship, but his advantage is shrinking. Meanwhile, Beganovic now has two wins in a row and growing confidence for the rest of the season. The F2 title race is heating up.

The Feature Race takes place later today. With his Sprint performance, Beganovic and Van Hoepen are favorites, while Tsolov must bounce back to maintain his championship lead.
