The second free practice session for the MotoGP class at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia delivered high-speed drama on Saturday morning as Marco Bezzecchi clinched the fastest lap time. The Italian rider performed brilliantly to lead an Aprilia one-two finish alongside his fellow brand stablemate, while the session was dramatically interrupted by a heavy crash involving Toprak Razgatlioglu.
Under warm and dry conditions, riders made full use of the crucial thirty-minute window to refine their machine setups ahead of the afternoon qualifying sessions. Bezzecchi spearheaded the Noale manufacturer's strong showing with Raul Fernandez slotting into second place, while Marc Marquez rounded out the top three in a fiercely competitive morning on track.
The Moto3 category stole headlines earlier in the day when Maximo Quiles set a phenomenal lap time of 1’36.690 to shatter the absolute lap record at the Indonesian venue. Riding for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, the young Spanish talent set the benchmark early in the session, leaving rivals struggling to respond before David Almansa narrowed the gap in the closing moments.

Meanwhile, the Moto2 intermediate class witnessed a thrilling battle for supremacy as David Alonso surged to the top of the timesheets with a blistering 1’32.187 lap late in the session. The Colombian's impressive effort eclipsed Senna Agius' earlier benchmark, setting the stage for an intense grid positioning battle later in the day.
The unforgiving asphalt and high-grip demands of the Mandalika layout also caught out several contenders in the lower categories, with crashes recorded for Joel Kelso, Jesus Rios, and Joel Esteban. These intense practice runs provided vital technical insights into tire management and aerodynamic setups ahead of the weekend's main racing events.
